Check Shopify Version

Overview

If you do not know which version of Shopify you are on, read this guide.

If you know you are on Shopify 1.0, or you could discover so after following the steps in this guide, view our Shopify 1.0 installation prerequisite guide.

Identify Your Shopify Version

Option 1: Code Editor

To check which version of Shopify your store is using, you can follow these steps:

Login to your Shopify account and navigate to the Online Store section. Click on Themes, then select Actions, and finally Edit Code.

Open the Config folder and click on settings_schema.json. Look for the theme_version field to see your theme's version.

Option 2: Theme Customizer

If you are not comfortable using the code editor, another way to check is through your theme customizer:

  1. Within the Shopify Admin, navigate to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Click Customize.

  3. In the theme customizer, click Add Section (+).

  4. Check if an App section is available to add. If App sections are available, then you are using Shopify 2.0.

If your theme was created before June 2021 and you haven't updated versions, it is likely that you are still using Shopify 1.0. For further assistance, contact support@benovel.com.
